Our 2025 Polar Fox skid houses have a new model, we call Model X, which includes a layout and features that support the use of FFS (Forward Facing Sonar), such as the Garmin Livescope system. Here we show Livescope with the ArcLabs shuttle and pole system connected to the skid house TV's.

Exciting new model X line up is launched for 2025 ice fishing skid houses from Polar Fox Outdoors. You can definitely enjoy the Model X with traditional cone sonar like vexilar, marcum, etc. - and we provided some excellent shelf systems to display each unit at a comfortable eye height. Many people know they would love a Polar Fox skid house if they lived on a lake ... but in reality there are many ways to package the right size skid house with the ATV or Side x Side of your choice, on a trailer that works for you all year around. For some in agriculture, construction, or transportation a larger trailer is plenty comfortable to tow any time of year. And the result can be this awesome and easy ... here is our big 8'x14' Polar Fox Skid House combined with a CanAm Defender Max side x side on Apache tracks, all loaded onto a 36' deck over equipment trailer that features a hydraulic dovetail. Yes, it is a big rig and not for everyone - and many smaller applications using utility trailers, car haulers, or snowmobile trailers have been demonstrated by us for those that prefer that size trailer. But like so many things once you get used to using this size equipment, what I call the "Spoiled Convenience" of it as a system is hard to not appreciate. Here's the logic of this combination I think: 1) If you want to use a tracked full size side x side for your ice fishing, you are going to spend a significant chunk of money to gain the advantages of going almost anywhere on the ice with a high level of comfort and warmth by using that machine. 2) That machine will add a lot of size and weight to your complete system of machine, house, & trailer. This creates a demand for the size of trailer. 3) You want your fish house to match the ability and function of that machine - if your fish house is heavy and needs a lot of thick ice or it doesn't go through deeper snow or slush, then you might as well just use a pickup truck to tow the ice house and skip the side x side. This is the problem I see with most toy hauler fish houses big and strong enough to put the UTV inside of the trailer. 4) The big side x side delivers on comfort and ability on the ice; combined with our easy to tow and incredibly warm Polar Fox skid house, you have the ultimate setup for enjoyment of your time on the ice with a go almost anywhere ability. Result: If you want to get away from the crowds on the ice, fish with friends and family in great comfort, and confidently return to the shore with ease ... then a big trailer to get you to the lake might be what you should consider. It is still cheaper than owning a lake home, and doesn't sound crazy when you compare it to some of today's fishing boats or dedicated vehicles such as the Sno Bear.... Our goal with all of our testing, videos, and explanations is to fairly and accurately share experiences so you know what to expect from different combinations. There are many different priorities and goals for different people on the ice - no single setup is right for everyone. We hope that by showing you these pieces of the different ideas that we are helping you narrow down on what is the best combination for you to maximize the on ice fun for you and your family!!

Raw footage of us towing an 8'x14' Polar Fox ice fishing skid house behind our CanAm Defender Max UTV with Apache tracks. This was shot in December 2022 ... lots of wind noise but we wanted you to hear the actual audio. Winch chill was 30 below with 15 mph winds plus gusts. Snow depth was about 9" with some drifting from that day. The fish house as fully equipped and geared up is just over 1500 lbs. Four days of towing this house around and it was amazingly easy! Note how the belly doesn't drag in the snow ... just the skis are floating the house. On this trip we had friends with us on ATV's with chains, and those machines could barely dig through the snow to keep moving. The combination in the video could move easily, park and restart easily, go over plowed road edges / windrows easily, and just deliver a fun, warm, and easy outing on the ice. We haul this combination on a 36' hydraulic dovetail Midsota trailer which makes the load and unload super easy and fast. The machine pulls the house right up onto the trailer without any disconnecting; then strap and go. This house loaded up with our Adventure interior package is around $28,000 depending on your setup choices. The big size house matched with this 6 person tow machine makes for the ultimate family friendly house that can go so many places other large houses can not. If you want to fish away from the crowds, with ease, with total comfort ... compare this setup and we think you will see the many advantages to a skid house.
